How do Dems Link Discrimination when Insurance Pays for Viagra & Not Birth Control?

Libs were "harping" about situations where medical insurance pays for viagra to help men but not birth control pills. Libs say this is discrimination.

But, they overlook two things
1. Viagra typically benefits both the male and female
2. Insurance policies pay for viagra for both men and women. Women can take it for many reasons including for treatment of depression.

Do Libs seem to be misguided on this issue?

If insurance pays for Viagra for both genders, then it's not discrimination.

Marcia,

Carly said it but she also ran HP into the ground. So don't trust her 100%.

Pelosi ran Congress into the ground.
Jamie Gorelick as Vice Chair of Fannie Mae helped run it into the ground along with Clinton friends Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson. So, don't trust Dems either.

Birth control benefits both males and females and young children, too.

Number two is the issue at hand and can't be used as an example.

Actually Carly Fiorino, a McCain surrogate, was the one who said this was discriminatory. I doubt she's a Democrat.

You probably missed it. It was the same day Phil Gramm announced the economic downturn is psychological…

They main reason insurance pays for Viagra is because it is used to treat an actual medical condition. If a women takes birth control pills to treat a medical condition most insurance companies will cover it but contraception alone is not a treatment for a medical condition..

Here is one place where I agree with the Democrats. The insurance companies should cover both or neither.

I think it is absurd to compare preventing unwanted pregnancies with taking Viagra. Obviously birth control is much more important. People who have no trouble getting into the mood, shall we say, are producing pregnancies that have serious and important consequences.

Why aren't cons more angry? Birth control leads to less pregnancy…which will lead to less unwanted pregnancy ….and less abortion? Isn't that the goaL? lets not split hairs….viagra-men birth control-women…

    No.

Viagra is not a medical necessity. Many times, birth control pills are. My sister is on them for therapeutic purposes and NOT for actual birth control… and her insurance company STILL won't pay for it, despite the fact that her doctor has written letters stating that it is medically necessary.

There is never a medical NECESSITY for an erectile dysfunction medication.

Isn't amazing that the pharmaceuticals are now trying to convince women this drug is good for them too. There is no reason on this Earth that birth control should not be covered. And there is every reason to point out the inconsistency of this.
I would think the anti-choice people would be all over this!

    It's pretty simple.

They will pay for viagra to combat erectile dysfunction (which while women can be prescribed viagra - this is not its #1 use).

Meanwhile, they will not pay for a woman to have birth control so that when Mr. Viagra whips it out and goes to work - she doesn't act as a breeding machine, allowing BOTH the man and woman to choose if and when to conceive children.

Any clearer now? (Not holding my breath).
